We collect and use data in a variety of ways to help advance solar energy technologies, specifically photovoltaics (PV).
What does “collect and use data” mean? It means we:
Traditionally, our application areas have focused on the development of new materials, manufacturing processes, and characterization techniques to improve the performance and reliability of PV technologies, reduce cost, and gain fundamental insight into the structure-property relationships of PV materials. However, we are rapidly expanding into new areas.

The DPV team at UCF collects and uses data in a variety of ways to help advance solar energy technologies, specifically photovoltaics (PV). This includes the development of new materials, manufacturing processes, and characterization techniques to improve the performance and reliability of PV technologies, reduce cost, and gain fundamental insight into the structure-property relationships of PV materials. This group is affiliated with the Resilient, Intelligent and Sustainable Energy Systems (RISES) Research Center, Florida Solar Energy Center, College of Engineering and Computer Science, and CREOL, the College of Optics and Photonics. Additionally, our team also has a deep and long-standing collaboration with the Solar Durability and Lifetime Extension (SDLE) Research Center at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) and is a member of the Center for Materials Data Science for Stockpile Stewardship led by SDLE.
In addition to our collaborators at UCF and CWRU, we also work with (or have worked with) numerous other organizations. Some notable examples are included below.
